Tip for Increasing Implant Crown Retention on a Zirconia Abutment

Zirconia Implant Abutments and Restorative Retention

Retention of cemented zirconia restorations can often be a weak point in the cementation process. To address this, I typically add retentive grooves on the intaglio surfaces of zirconia crowns and on the axial surfaces of implant zirconia abutments. This technique has effectively resolved retention issues in my clinical practice. In this video, I will demonstrate my method for creating micro-retentive grooves on implant abutments prior to sintering.
