The Natural Zirconia Glaze Formula with Ceram Art

Introduced by Ivoclar into the North American market at the end of 2025, Ceram Art is an innovative liquid ceramic system that allows a new level of creativity and realism in monolithic restorations.

At the center of the system is the self-leveling Magic Glaze, which creates a unique medium where color can be floated, layered, blended, or suspended while still maintaining optical distinction within the glaze itself. The Illusion Colors are especially subtle and translucent, allowing natural depth, vitality, and light dynamics to develop inside the restoration rather than appearing heavily painted on the surface.

In this tutorial, we demonstrate a basic anterior workflow for characterizing a zirconia canine crown fabricated from ZirCAD Prime Aesthetic zirconia and blending it naturally next to an adjacent e.max lateral restoration.

This video illustrates:
• Using Magic Glaze as a creative layering medium
• Floating and blending Illusion Colors
• Creating subtle internal depth and translucency
• Blending zirconia naturally next to e.max
• Developing realistic anterior characterization efficiently

One of the exciting evolutions in modern restorative dentistry is the ability to blend different restorative materials naturally within the same smile. With advanced zirconia materials and liquid ceramic systems like Ceram Art, zirconia no longer has to appear flat or opaque. Proper characterization allows zirconia and ceramics to integrate together with remarkable realism in the esthetic zone.
